BFA in Theatre with a concentration in PRODUCTION & DESIGN
This pre-professional degree that combines a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of theatre with concentrations in costume, scenic, lighting or sound design; technical production; and stage management. This concentration gives you the artistic, intellectual and technical groundwork necessary for a professional life in the theatre and for further specialization through graduate studies. The 129-credit curriculum includes pre-professional training, study of theatre history and literature, and a wide range of liberal arts courses.
This is a process-based, hands-on degree. With strong personal mentoring in your area of specialization, you will make practical application of your training through substantial participation in productions of the Post Theatre Company.
Students gain hands-on experience at professional facilities on campus, including the Little Theatre and the Costume and Scene Shops.

The program is coordinated with the Post Theatre Company, where students gain hands-on participation in all aspects of a working theatre company. Students gain a wider perspective through internships on and off campus, and travel to festivals in the United States and abroad. Our beautiful suburban campus is only 50 minutes away from the theatre capital of the world – New York City. There are many opportunities to collaborate with professional playwrights, directors and producers.

JENNIFER RICE
Jennifer Rice (Costume Designer, Costume Shop Supervisor, Adjunct Professor) has been with Long Island University’s Theatre, Dance, and Arts Management program since 1998, working with students and guest artists on well over 100 productions for the Post Theatre Company and Post Concert Dance Company. As an adjunct professor, Jen teaches design and costume tech courses, and is a mentor to the department’s Production and Design majors concentrating in costume studies. She has designed costumes for several dance pieces, plays and musicals for the PTC and PCDC; favorites include Metamorphoses, Rent, The Wild Party, Iphigenia and Other Daughters, and Twelfth Night. Jen has also worked for the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore, TX, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder, CO and The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC.

DAVID APICHELL
David has been kicking around the business for many years. He serves as Production Manager at The New London Barn Playhouse. Past Stage Management credits include 11 years on tour with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking!, The Music Man: In Concert (Two River Theater/NJPAC), three years as PSM for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Intringulis and American Jornalero (INTAR). Regional productions include Disney’s Mary Poppins (Gateway/Ogunquit), Elf: the Musical (Arkansas Rep), Les Miserables, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof (Reagle Music Theatre), Hairspray, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Sound of Music (Mill Mountain Theatre). David has stage managed many events for the New York Times TimesTalks, works annually as the Production Manager for NYU’s UltraViolet Live!, and teaches Theatre, Stage, and Arts Management at LIU Post, where he also directs. THOMAS PASCARELLA
Thomas Pascarella is an LIU and PTC alum, adjunct professor of theatre and Director of Facility and Production Services for LIU Tilles Center. Tom has held various consulting and production jobs over his career, including having his own Production Company that produced events such as the Grand Gourmet at Grand Central Station.
After travelling with a live Better Homes and Gardens cooking tour, Tom soon after started full time at Tilles Center. Outside of Tilles Center, Tom has found the time to be the Production Manager for “The (49th, 50th, and 51st) Drama Desk Awards”, consulted on Commencement ceremonies and venue projects for Princeton University, and Event Managed Commencement ceremonies for Adelphi University. Tom was raised in Westbury and lives in North Babylon with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
